Level 3 Sports Trainer course

Course covers:

The course includes several units of competency as well as extensive use of scenarios to ensure the highest level of knowledge and skills are achieved. Units of competency issued include:

  1. HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid
  2. HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation
  3. HLTAID008 Manage first aid resources and services – Occupational First Aid
  4. PUAEME004A Provide emergency care for suspected spinal injuries
  5. PUAEME005A Provide Pain Management

Course Requirements

Only basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed to attend this course. Access to a computer with internet capability is required to complete the online learning module – as is also basic computer skills eg ability to open files, web browsers etc, using ideally the latest version of CHROME as your web browser. . Completion of this unit does require the student to be able to get onto the floor to perform CPR – this is a licensing requirement of the unit.

If you have ANY special needs ( eg, language / literacy / numeracy difficulties, physical disabilities etc ) that you think may impact on your ability to complete this training please let us know prior to enrolling.

Target Audience

This unit is designed for those who wish to elevate their current Sports Trainer qualifications to the next level. Participants need to hold a valid Level 2 Sports Trainer qualification ideally with Nationally Recognised units of competency. Nationally Recognised units of competency provide a good bench mark for knowledge and skills

It is suitable for all sports including Rugby League, AFL, cricket, netball Rugby Union etc

Course Duration

2 full days face to face training. Due to the extensive content and assessment requirements of this type of course, you need to be aware that the course days are long and demanding

Pre-course online work is required

Recognition of Prior Learning

RPL may be available for the units contained in this course however fees will be involved with assessment of the RPL

Pre-course study

It is required you view the videos on CPR found on our website as well as reading the first aid book which is also available on our website

Pre-course work is required for the HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid unit – details under that unit.

Assessment requirements

There is some theory and practical assessment to ensure that the participant has gained the required knowledge and confidence in the skills covered in the unit. You will be required, as per the Training Package, to complete 2 mins of CPR on a CPR manikin. Participants will also be required to demonstrate various practical skills including application of slings etc

In addition to the requirements for the first aid units, you will be required to complete various written, verbal and demonstration assessments during the 2 days.

Recertification requirements

CPR and Advanced Resuscitation refresher is recommended annually and Provide First Aid at least every 3 years. We suggest that the taping is refreshed at least annually unless it is being practised regularly. 

Award Issued

After successful completion of the course the participant will gain a Level 3 Sports Trainer certificate

as well as Statement of Attainments in
